Morning glory (Ipomoea tricolor) is an annual climbing plant with large, funnel-shaped flowers in blue, purple, pink or white. The flowers open in the morning, hence the name, and quickly cover fences, pergolas and trellises. The plant grows vigorously, prefers sun and ordinary soils, and flowers abundantly all summer. The flowers attract pollinators, while the dense foliage provides shade and privacy. Morning glory is a classic ornamental for covering vertical surfaces quickly.
