Dill (Anethum graveolens) is an annual aromatic plant of the Apiaceae family, with fine, thread-like, highly fragrant leaves. The fresh leaves flavour soups, salads, sauces and pickles, while the seeds are used in preserving. The plant grows quickly, prefers sun and fertile soils, and flowers in decorative yellow umbels. It has digestive properties and is also used in calming teas. Dill is one of the best-loved herbs in Romanian cooking.
