The olive tree is the emblem of the Mediterranean, with evergreen silvery foliage and a picturesque habit; drought-resistant.

• Winter care: tolerates brief frosts to −8 °C, but roots are exposed in a pot — overwinter in a bright, cool place (5–10 °C)

• Watering: let the surface of the compost dry between waterings; in a pot in summer it needs regular watering. Never leave water in the saucer.
